What Type of Chronic Pain Do You Suffer From?
RavenCares submitted, posted 1 Year, 2 months, 3 Weeks, 2 days, 6 hours, 33 minutes ago
I thought maybe we could introduce ourselves and share what type of chronic pain we're all dealing with here. For myself, I suffer chronic back pain. Beginning in childhood, I started undergoing spinal surgeries for scoliosis. I've had a total of 7 major spinal surgeries, including Harrington rods and body casts. Although the scoliosis was corrected pretty decently, all the surgery has left me with chronic pain. How about the rest of you? What type of pain do you have, and for how long? And how do you deal with it? ~~RavenCares

Raven, I have had back pain for years and just kinda gritted my teeth for it. When all my other problems started, I asked them to check some things out. Found out I have several bulging discs in my lower back, and severe arthritis in my neck, where the vertabrea are falling to pieces. Because of this, I have chronic nerve pain going down both arms, but mostly the right forearm. Feels like someone is driving railroad spikes about every inch and a half down my arm. Right now I am on Tramadol ( Ultram ) for the pain, but it is kinda addictive so I will probably get changed to something else eventually. It will take some of the pain down for a couple of hours.
Ouch!

Bozz, that sounds excruciating! Is there any way surgery could help you? Or is that something you want to avoid?

Hi, Styx... Wow, you have a lot of conditions going on all at the same time! It sounds really painful. My cousin who is 53 has SLE. She's been having a really hard time lately, and the medications aren't working as well as they used to. I'm glad you joined us here!
A Thought for Styx

Hey, Styx, I was wondering if you live near a university medical center? If so, you might be able to receive free or low-cost health care and treatment thru its "indigent fund". This fund is for patients who have no insurance, no Medicaid, and who are low-income. It might be worth a shot to call up your nearest teaching hospital.
