Has anyone out there taken Boniva or any of the other new medications that are available to treat osteoporosis? Is there any benefit to taking the weekly ones over the once-a-month kind?

I think the big difference between the weekly versus monthly form of osteoporosis drugs is convenience. I know that you have to sit or stand for at least 45 minutes to an hour after taking the pill. Otherwise, it will wreak havoc on your gastrointestinal tract and esophagus. I'm a little leery of these drugs, mainly because of all the side effects. Have you ever read the back of the advertisements for them? Scary stuff!!

Convenience is a huge factor for the monthly versus daily, every med has side effects, but it is a good idea to make sure that you are well aware! Sadie

I am wondering about something. I had a hysterectomy early in life and now I have hit my leg accidentially (getting out of the bathtub (embarrassing)). Anyway I think it may have cracked it. Do I need to be on a med - are my bones in trouble? thanks for any info Sissy
