Hi all -

I was reading the news story about Oscar the Cat who seems to be able to tell when residents in the care home where he lives are about to die. This made me wonder if anyone out there would be interested in talking about things relating to death and dying.

I worked for a number of years with terminally-ill patients, especially those suffering from cancer. One of things I learned from this experience was the importance of preparing ourselves and family members for this inevitability. There are so many issues involved: financial preparations, health-care benefits, long-term care, home health care, hospice care, personal wishes, etc.

Many of us 'baby boomers' are now taking care of elderly parents, with all the responsibilities that entails. There are so many problems when dealing with Medicare, insurance companies, prescription plans, etc. I think it would be good if we could support each other by sharing our experiences, feelings, ideas, etc.
