Is it harmful to take over-the-counter antacids every day?

I'm thinking that if you're taking them everyday, chances are you need to see a doctor. There may be a more serious problem at play. There are also many natural rememdies you can do instead of taking antacids, like a tablesppon of baking soda in a glass of water (be prepared to belch!) or swallowing a spoonful of vinegar (tastes horrible but it woked within just a couple of minutes and no belching). And what's really nice about these options is that most people already have these in their kitchen and you don't have to spend money on OTC meds. After all, how long does a box of baking soda last you???

I have never heard about them being harmful, in fact they told my sister that she could take as many tums as she wanted during pregnancy! I guess they are pretty safe. Malena
