Post topic: Sufferers of Interstitial Cystitis

I've received quite a lot of positive feedback and support from this website and even found another person suffering from Interstitial Cystitis. It's a bladder disease that affects the lining of the bladder, leaving ulcers and cysts that damage and eat away at the GAG layer, which protects the bladder. The pain can be quite severe because most food and drinks are acidic, so once they've been ingested and proceed to the bladder a sufferer of IC experiences nerve pain from the unprotected areas inside the organ itself. This usually affects women from anywhere in their 40's - 60's, but that's not the rule. I was diagnosed when I was 16. There is no cure, and there is no one solution for everyone. Personally I have surgery twice a year, that will continue indefinitely, I have an Interstim device implanted to help control urinary frequency, and I am on constant medication. I know that there are others out there, and this is an opportunity to share knowledge and support.
