Post topic: what do the numbers in the blood pressure reading mean?

I've often wondered about the numbers in the blood pressure reading. I think I read about it once, but can't remember. Can someone tell me?

Somebody told me that one of the numbers represents the pressure in your system when your heart is contracting and the other represents the pressure when the heart is at rest between contractions. don't know if that's right, but it might give you a place to start looking - you could google for the information...
