Post topic: new treatments?

Are there any new treatments for asthma? It seems like a disease that's been around for a long time, and I wonder what new kinds of therapy or drugs are available for people who have it.

There are a ton of preventive medicines that have come out in the past few years... advair, singulair, etc Unfortunately, none of the preventive medicines seemed to work for me. When I was taking singulair, it gave me nightmares- I dreamed that rats were eating a dead animal under my couch! I just use abuterol when I have an attack. I've found that if I keep my allergies under control then my asthma isn't so bad.

I would have to agree with Cheerful; however, the only allergy (preventive) medication that seemed to work for me was ALLEGRA. This is not covered by a lot of insurance companies, they tell you to use Claritin as they say it has the same active ingredient. Good luck.. I have a tough time with my asthma as well, as it seems sometimes like an elephant is sitting on my chest.

A good resource website is The American Lung Association. You can find them at www.lungusa.org. :-)
