I think there is too much emphasis on people pairing up - it's possible to be a single person and be OK - I think people need friends and support, but that doesn't necessarily have to come from a romantic partner - |

Too true, Bill. Many people place so much emphasis on finding a partner that they don't take the time to get to know themselves and feel comfortable with who they are inside. I actually enjoy time without a partner. It's when I get a chance to get back in touch with me and what I like and want instead of always worrying about making someone else happy. |

I agree with the both of you and I am not single... A lot of times I wish that I was.. being in a relationship is stressful and a lot of times you lose yourself in the relationship.. I have found that being in this relationship is that I don't have time to focus on myself.. I am always trying to make him happy.. he expects to be waited on but does nothing in return.. I pay the bills, take care of the kids, house,etc.. he drinks and yells and wants to be waited on or else.. Single is the way to be.. but I've been trying to hang on since I didn't get married to get divorced.. AGAIN - 2nd time.. but after we got married.. and not until after I found out I'm #6 for him...

It is not healthy to be in a bad marriage or relationship. There has got to be a better way.

The peer pressure is just too much sometimes! I mean, if you're single and get invited over to a couple's house for dinner, they usually want to play matchmaker. It's a little bit tiresome, IMHO. |

Ohhh... I hate matchmakers. Everyone expects you to have a partner or if you don't then they assume that you must be looking for one. When I get asked out and I tell the man no, he asks if I have a partner. When I tell him no again, he asusmes I'm gay, lol. No one seems to understand that people can be happy alone. |

A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that married adults are healthier than divorced, widowed or never married adults. Married adults are less likely than other adults to be in fair or poor health, and are less likely to suffer from health conditions such as headaches and serious psychological distress. * Married adults are less likely to be limited in various activities, including work and other activities of daily living. * Married adults are less likely to smoke, drink heavily or be physically inactive. However, married men are more likely to be overweight or obese than other men. While the results show that married adults are generally in better health than unmarried adults, the reasons for better health status among married adults cannot be determined with the cross-sectional data collected in the National Health Interview Survey. |

Yep, I've read thru the years that all the research shows that married people live longer than their single counterparts. But the studies also show that people who have pets live longer too. So I guess I will just snuggle up with my kitty, lol! |
