This question has been bugging me since Supreme Court Justice John Roberts had a seizure several weeks ago. He had a previous grand-mal seizure back in 1992. Is this considered epilepsy? Can you have seizures out of the blue and not have epilepsy?

Actually, you can have seizures and not be considered eplileptic. I am living proof. I had several seizures as a child, they stopped and then about 2 yaears ago I began to have them again. I have since been diagnosed with "non-eplileptic seizure disorder". It's all in the brain wave activity that makes them eplileptic seizures I think.

Many have been told they are epileptic; which may be true, for some. But after 6 seizures; within a 2 mo. period in '96,after going thru all the gauntlet of tests, complete with "dr. God",standing around, glaring at me, after having been diagnosed with everything from a tumor to needing scads of unwarranted attention,4 neurologists to THIS DAY,still don't know..However;I had to know, because I had just had a 2nd. nervous breakdown, with 4 kids.MARRIED..mk yes...(they do call it an institution,folks)..I had been prescribed a host of drugs to 'CURE' my "symptoms'.I became totally paralyzed from the waist down, experienced a type of chorea, my legs did a crazy, demonic dance on their own.In short, thru the process of elimination,I took myself off the drugs.Dangerous! they warned! (it's not dangerous to lose your ability to walk, I guess), but needless to say, after the drugs got out of my system, I had to learn to walk all over again. I do not claim to know it all, but I was finally diagnosed with 'Menier's Disease"..so I just don't want any one on here to go thru what I did. If you are on mind bending drugs, they do affect other parts of your body.I am sorry to be so wordy(I am a writer), but if any one needs to discuss these things further with me I am at your disposal.. Doctors,I don't care how learned and stoic they think they are, they are still just people like us.(until they find a different way to put their pants on!!)I am enjoying this site very much.I COULD NEVER BE A DOCTOR.I would not charge enough...lol friend...mysterianne (disguised as a 51 yr. old grandmother)
