October is Lupus Awareness Month. Its a shame to see that is not noted under Bone & Muscles. Its funny because lupus can cause fribromyalgia, osteoporosis and any type of arthritis. Please include this life-threathening disease under Bones & Muscles.

I am not sure if this is a muscle issue or what. This morning when I woke up the left side of my jaw line felt like it had a catch in it. It hurt so bad I couldnt hardly move it. As the day progressed it is not as bad, but still sore. Does anyone have any idea? thanks Sissy

Sissy, it sounds like you're having problems with your temperomandibular joint (TMJ). It can be extremely painful and even lock up on you thru muscle spasms. Can you talk to your dentist or physician about it?

Sissy, you probably slept wrong on your jaw joint. I have had a horrible time with TMJ ever since I was 16 years old. The oral surgeons think that a body cast I wore when I was 14 caused the problem initially. The cast had a neck collar that kept my chin pointed upwards slightly. Anyway, if I'm not careful about how I position my head on the pillow at night, my jaw kills me the next morning. My mom gets TMJ stiffness at times. But then it just goes away after a day or two.

You're welcome, Sissy! Next time your jaw gives you any trouble, take some ibuprofen, use a heating pad or hot-water bottle, and eat soft foods for a couple days. It really will help!
