Hi all, I'm new here, well somewhat new. I hope to be around for a while. My names Jen. I'm married, have 3 wonderful kids and am a nurse. I love helping people, which is the real reason I became a nurse. But life has a way at throwing you curve balls when you least expect it. I was thrown the proverbial career smashing curve ball of bipolar disorder and have to apply for disability. However, with my free time, I hope to get a group started about bipolar and work together to come to terms with this illness, see what works for each other. Share pains and positives. If we can be here for each other, then that will help.
Anyway - this is just an intro. Glad to meet you all.

Hi Jen,
How are you and the kids doing? We are doing fine, the kids are enjoying their winter break - but it sure is noisy around my house!!

Glad to meet you. Looks like I get to be the "newbee" now! My name is Sherry, I have two kids, daughter 16 and son 21. My son and daughter in law have given me two precious grandchildren, Haley is 2 and Chris Jr. is 11 months. They all currenlty live with me and it can get crazy around here. My 21 year old son has mild cerebral palsy and bipolar disorder, but I am so proud of him, he works every day and does a great job at taking care of his family. When he was about 7 days old, his prognosis was very grim, doctors said due to high billirubin passing the blood brain barrier, he would probably never walk or talk or hear. I was only 21 at the time and became very depressed, but thanks to my mother, who never gave up on him, encouraged me to get him into therapy before he was even one month old, my son is able to walk, talk and hear, with only a slight hearing impairment. I just want to let you all know, that no matter how grim a diagnosis may sound, never give up hope. I am so thankful that my mother was there to encourage me! Anyway, I am glad to be a part of this group and I'm glad to meet all of you! |
