Post topic: FDA Approves Evista for Prevention of Breast Cancer

On September 14, 2007, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of Evista, an osteoporosis drug, for postmenopausal women who want to prevent breast cancer. The director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research warns that Evista may not be appropriate for all postmenopausal women, however.

There are two groups of women who Evista may help: postmenopausal women who have osteoporosis, and postmenopausal women who are at high risk of contracting invasive breast cancer. With the new FDA approval, Evista becomes the second drug for preventing breast cancer, with Tamoxifen being the first.

I just did a little research on this med because they recommended my mother begin taking it. It is suppose to decrease the chance of cancer - sounds like a winner to me!
