Post topic: Exercise to Prevent Carpal Tunnel

Sitting and typing at a computer often leads carpal tunnel syndrome, as well as other repetitive stress injuries. A new study performed by researchers at the University of British Columbia found that physical exercise done on a regular basis is the best method of preventing these injuries. On-the-job injuries of this nature decreased by 16 percent in individuals who worked out three to four times a week. Researchers believe that exercise provides protection against repetitive stress injuries by boosting blood circulation and preventing imbalances in the body that lead to pain and strain.

I work from home and spend a great deal of time typing, which kind of scares me! Thanks for sharing the info! Sissy

Sissy, I work on the computer from home too, and some days I get a lot of wrist pain, and sometimes elbow pain. I need to look around and see if I can find any specific hand or wrist exercises to prevent carpal tunnel.

I bought some of those adhesive (small) heat pads and that seems to work just about as well as anything. Sometimes I have to give it a couple of days rest. Give it a try. Sissy

Sissy, are the little heat pads those TheraCare pads? I think that's the name I'm trying to think of, lol! Anyway, do they last for about 8 hours?
