I live in a rural area, where we do not have access to natural gas. (We do have electricity, though!). Anyway, we all have to use wood stoves for our heat source. And this year for the first time, I seem to have developed an allergy to the wood or the wood smoke or something. It's driving me nuts. I keep breaking out in a rash and sneezing like crazy. Are any of the over-the-counter antihistamines better than others'? I'm looking for one that won't make me drowsy.

Oh, how I can identify. I am not sure if any are better than others but I do know that benadryl works wonderful for me. The only problem is that it puts me to sleep!! Good luck to you. I know that there are a ton of over the counters that you might try!! Sissy

Thanks for the info, Sissy! I just heard today that Zyrtec has gone over the counter. Have you ever tried this medication? If so, did it work for you??

I always am a little suspicious of the pharmaceutical companies when they release a prescription drug for over-the-counter use. I can't help but think they're in cahoots with the insurance industry. Once it's available OTC, the insurers don't have to pay for it anymore.
