Post topic: Question about Medicine used for RLS

I am not even sure if this is where I should ask or not but here goes. I was put on CARB/LEVO 25-100 MG generic for SINEMET 25-100 MG
Well I need to know what the long term effects can be of this drug as I was told to take one or two at night for RLS. A druggist said that it could be hazardous to me with long term use. Why? Does anyone know or can shed light on this for me?

You can find extensive information on Sinemet (Carbidopa-Levodopa) at the following link: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/sinemet.htm

It sounds like there is a danger of developing dyskinesias and mental disturbances with long-term usage. You should also receive occasional liver-function tests while using the drug. Hope this info helps!

You can also go to www.drugs.com and find a lot of information about just about any drug you are taking. I also suffer from RLS, I was prescribed Requip, which worked for me at first, but I now have a doctor appointment to discuss other options because one of Requips side effects is dizziness, which I did not experience at first, but I am now. If anyone has any input on RLS relief, I would love to hear it. I suffer from this at least 5 days out the week. I read that Vicodin is sometimes prescribed for this and at one time (I shouldn't be telling you this) I got some from a friend and it was like a miracle! It was the best couple of nights rest I ever got! The drawback to that is that it is probably addicting, but I do plan to discuss the possibilities of taking this with my doctor. At this point, I am willing to try anything to get some rest. By the way, at one point I was taking Tylenol PM and discovered that this just makes RLS much worse!
