Post topic: Past Hepatitis C Infection

My friend recently was tested for hepatitis due to mild liver pain and enlargement. She used to be an operating-room technician back in the 1980s, and was exposed to patients' blood via needlesticks and a careless surgeon. Her doctor called the other day, saying that her hepatitis screen had come back positive for a past infection with Hepatitis C. She has to have another test, which is more sophisticated (and expensive, of course!). In the meanwhile, she's scared to death. What are the ramifications for someone who has been infected in the long-ago past with the Hep C virus?
