A friend of mine is dealing with Ovarian cancer right now so after some research I wanted to share some of the information I had found. Maybe others can learn from the symptoms and catch it sooner. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ovariancancer.html

Sissy, thank you so much for the link to the information about ovarian cancer -- it's very helpful! During the past few years, the medical community has been able to diagnose ovarian cancer much sooner than in previous years. I remember reading Gilda Radner's (from Saturday Night Live) book many years ago. Although she had a lot of symptoms, doctors weren't able to diagnose her until she was in the advanced stages. It seems to me that there has been a lot of progress in treating cancer the past ten years or so. Wouldn't it be a blessing if we could just wipe the darn disease off the face of the planet?! I'll keep your friend in my prayers. Thank you for sharing.

Absolutely, Sissy! I try to get as much research as I can about any potential health issue so I know what my options are and can have a productive talk with my doctor. As for diagnosing cancer, they're getting better at doing it quicker but all too often it's diagnosed too late, as in the case of my grandmother's liver cancer. It would be nice if all cancers could be easily diagnosed for quick treatment.

I'm so glad that doctors are able to diagnose ovarian cancer sooner than they used to. There is a blood test that can detect a marker for the disease. I wish all doctors would routinely order this test as part of a woman's annual exam!
