I think it would be advantageous to have an Infectious Disease category that would include viruses and bacterial infections, as well as fungal infections.

I agree. I am a little bit concerned at the moment about the Staph infections. There have been several reports in local schools. I am not sure what to do for my children. Any suggestions, comments or dealings with? Sissy

Sissy, you're right -- there has been a lot in the news lately about methicillin-resistance staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections. This type of bacteria used to only be present in hospitals, much of it in the operating rooms. Many years ago, I suffered from a MRSA infection of my hip, which I picked up while working the OR. I had to have major surgery to deal with it, including skin grafts. I came really close to losing my leg because of it. I'm not quite sure how to protect ourselves from it out here in the general public. I think I'll go see if the CDC has anything to say about it. I'll let you know what I find out. ~RavenCares

That is so scarry. Unfortunately so many of the medical workers contract that kind of stuff out of working with others. That is the reason that health care employees rate at the top of my list!! Thanks for sharing Sissy

Sissy, the first time I ever was hired for the OR, I was informed during the orientation period that I would become really sick within the first two or three weeks. There are a lot of bugs in hospitals that the general public is not usually exposed to. Luckily for me, that prediction didn't come true. I never even caught a cold while working there. But I did get the MRSA infection in my hip, which was a complete drag.
