The Bipolar Girl with no Insurance

As a child my father's company provided excellent health benefits for a daughter with many health issues. Through all the allergy shots, asthma treatments, and trips to the ER the insurance always provided financial backing. Starting around the age of 15 I began treatment and therapy for depression which has severely affected my life. After this diagnosis was made soon followed the second mood disorder. I was blessed with my father's insurance coverage and then graduated from high school, became one more member of the working class, and because of my decision to only be a part time student my father's health insurance will no longer cover me. Being on my own I've struggled with being financially able to pay for the three medications I need to take to function normally as an individual who is bipolar.
